About the project
A new town will rise from the ashes of an industrial zone in western Sydney. A proposal has been outlined to create a neighbourhood in Camellia, a 321-hectare precinct about 1.5 kilometres east of Parramatta’s CBD, a zone that has long been dominated by heavy industry.

Under the government’s plan, a town centre would be built with shops, public plazas, high-rise apartments and parks.

“It will be a productive, sustainable and livable place with waterfront parks and riverfront promenade for the community to enjoy the environment around them, and a business activity corridor to support economic activity in the region.” – Rob Stokes, Planning Minister
