About the project
The Coal Loader site is located on Sydney’s Lower North Shore in Waverton. The site was operational for over 70 years, transferring coal between vessels and storing the coal in a elevated structure unique to the site. Beneath the elevated platform, a series of tunnels were formed for skips – which were used to transport the coal to Balls Head Bay for use.

Today, the former industrial site is undergoing extensive rejuvenation for use by the local and broader community. Arterra Interactive have been working with North Sydney Council on The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability project for a number of years, and continue to support project related outcomes.
